What makes this special is how the warm, crispy potatoes soak up all those wonderful spice blends. The pomegranate seeds add little bursts of sweetness that balance the tangy lemon and chaat masala perfectly. It’s comfort food that feels fancy but won’t stress you out to make.

Cooking Tips

Make sure your potatoes are completely dry before frying – this prevents oil splatter and gives you crispier results. Don’t skip the cooling step after frying. Hot potatoes will make your fresh ingredients soggy. Cut everything into similar bite-sized pieces so each spoonful has a bit of everything. Taste as you go and adjust the spices to your liking.

Serving and Storing Suggestions

This recipe serves 3-4 people as a snack or 2 as a light meal. Total time is about 30 minutes including prep. Serve immediately after mixing for the best texture contrast. Leftovers don’t store well since the potatoes lose their crispiness. If you must save some, store components separately and remix before eating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this without frying the potatoes?

Yes, you can roast cubed potatoes in the oven at 425°F until golden and crispy. It takes about 25-30 minutes but uses less oil. Toss them with a little oil and salt before roasting for best results.

What can I substitute for pomegranate seeds?

Try diced apples, grapes, or even fresh corn kernels. You want something that adds sweetness and crunch. Chopped cucumber works too if you prefer to keep it completely savory.

How spicy is this dish?

It’s mildly spicy with a tangy kick. The heat comes mainly from garam masala and chaat masala. Start with less spice and add more to taste. The lemon juice and yogurt help cool things down.
