Ingredients

  • 800 gms Chicken
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 3 Green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 2 Onion (medium sized and grated)
  • 2 tsp Garlic (grated)
  • 8 tsp Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • Freshly milled pepper as per taste
  • 1 cup Hot water
  • Salt as per taste

For garnishing:

  • Cumin powder as required

Instructions

  • Fry the cumin seeds in hot oil till they crackle, then add the green chillies and onions and fry for about 3 minutes or till the onions get golden brown.
  • Add the chicken pieces and stir fry for about 8 minutes or till the chicken pieces get brown.
  • Add and thoroughly mix all the other ingredients.
  • Cover the pan and cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes or till the chicken pieces are done.
  • More hot water can be added as per requirement to cook the chicken pieces or to increase the gravy. Cover the cook on low heat till done.
  • Garnish with a sprinkling of cumin powder.
  • Serve with rice or roti.

Note:

  • If boneless chicken is used, then the amount should be reduced to half and the cooking time must also be reduced accordingly keeping the other ingredients same.
  • The consistency of gravy can be increased or decreased as per taste preference.

Yes. Use 400g boneless chicken instead of 800g bone-in chicken. The cooking time will reduce to about 10-12 minutes, but keep all other ingredients the same.
