Strawberry Banana Cream Trifle is my go-to dessert for family gatherings. I first made this recipe for my mom’s birthday, and it was such a hit that it became our family’s most requested treat. The layers look fancy, but don’t let that fool you – it’s surprisingly simple to put together. The fresh fruit, homemade custard, and fluffy whipped cream create a dessert that’s both light and satisfying.
About the Recipe
This trifle brings together the best of both worlds – fresh fruit and creamy dessert elements. The strawberry sauce adds a bright, sweet-tart flavor, while the custard provides richness. The bananas add natural sweetness, and the wafers give a nice crunch. It’s a make-ahead dessert that actually gets better as it sits in the fridge, making it perfect for busy hosts.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
You’ll love how impressive this dessert looks with minimal effort. The layers create a beautiful presentation that always gets “wows” at the table. It’s also super flexible – you can adjust the sweetness to your taste and even use store-bought custard if you’re short on time. The recipe is forgiving, so even if your layers aren’t perfect, it’ll still taste amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this trifle ahead of time?
Yes. It’s best made 4-24 hours ahead. The flavors blend better, and the wafers soften to the perfect texture.
Can I use store-bought custard?
Sure. While homemade custard tastes great, good-quality store-bought custard works fine when you’re short on time.
Will my bananas turn brown?
Dip them in lemon juice before adding to the trifle. Also, make sure they’re completely covered by other layers.
