A simple and delicious evening snack for kids.

Cheese Bonda is a fun twist on the traditional Indian bonda. I started making these when my kids wanted something different from regular after-school snacks. The combination of gooey cheese and crispy coating makes these irresistible. They’re super easy to make and always disappear quickly from the plate.

About the Recipe

This recipe takes the classic Indian bonda and gives it a cheesy makeover. The outer layer is perfectly crispy while the inside stays soft and cheesy. It’s a great way to introduce kids to Indian snacks, and the prep is simple enough that they can help too. The mix of spicy green chilies and cheese creates a wonderful flavor balance.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

These bondas are quick to make and need basic ingredients you probably already have. They’re perfect for unexpected guests or when you want something warm and comforting. The cheese adds a rich, gooey texture that everyone loves. Plus, you can adjust the spice level by changing the number of green chilies used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these bondas ahead of time?

You can prepare the batter ahead and store it in the fridge for up to 4 hours. However, fry the bondas just before serving for the best taste and texture.

Can I bake these instead of frying?

While traditional bondas are fried, you can bake them at 375°F for 15-20 minutes. The texture will be different but still tasty and healthier.

Can I use different types of cheese?

Yes. Mozzarella, cheddar, or any melting cheese works well. Just make sure it’s well-grated to mix easily into the batter.
