  • 8 Potatoes
  • 10 Green Chillies
  • 8 to 10 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Roasted Gram
  • 1 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 3 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 3 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 2 cup Curd
  • as required Ghee
  • as per taste Salt

To Garnish

  • Plain Sev (Ompodi)
  • a small pinch Saffron Strands


  • Hang the curd in a muslin cloth and allow the water to drain fully.
  • Boil, peel and mash the potatoes.
  • Finely chop the garlic, green chillies and ginger.
  • Combine the roasted gram, corn flour, red chilli powder and garam masala powder.
  • Pound this to a fine powder.
  • Add the mashed potatoes to this.
  • Add green chillies, garlic, ginger and salt.
  • Mix well and shape them into small-medium tikkis.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa over medium flame.
  • Pan-fry (or shallow fry) the tikkis on both sides until golden brown, applying ghee around the edges.
  • Transfer the tikkis to a plate.
  • Spoon over a little of the drained curd on top of each tikki.
  • Garnish with saffron and plain sev (ompodi).
  • Serve with mint chutney.
