Paruppu Thuvaiyal or Paruppu Thogayal is a traditional South Indian dish served with rice and vatha kuzhambu for lunch.
Ingredients:
Toor Dal – 1 cup
Peppercorns – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chilli – 1
Asafoetida – a pinch
Coconut – 1 tsp, grated
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Dry roast the toor dal, peppercorns, chilli and asafoetida till golden.
2. Remove and grind together with salt, coconut and enough water to a smooth paste.
3. Serve with cooked rice and vathal kuzhambu.
