Ingredients:
1/4 kg fresh snake gourd
3-4 green chillies, chopped
2 tbsp grated coconut
1-2 flakes tamarind
1 cup butter milk
1 tsp oil
salt to taste
Seasoning
fry in 1tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
1 red chilly (optional)
a sprig of curry leaf
Method:
1. Lightly scrape the gourd. Wash and cut the gourd, but do not discard the inside portion. Chop this along with the rest of the gourd.
2. Heat 1 tsp oil, fry the chopped chillies and the gourd. Add coconut, tamarind, salt and grind all of it to a smooth paste.
3. Churn curds smooth, add ground vegetable and mix thoroughly.
4. Season the ingredients given, add to butter milk.
Serve with rice.
