Ingredients:
Bengal Gram – 1 1/4 cups
Water – 1 1/4 cups
Bayleaf – 1
Cinnamon Stick – 1
Butter – 2 1/2 tbsp
Onions – 1/2 cup, chopped
Garam Masala – 1 1/2 tsp
Ginger Paste – 2 tsp
Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
Tomatoes – 4 tbsp, chopped
Green Coriander – 1 tsp
Method:
1. Clean the gram.
2. Wash in water 3 or 4 times and soak for 30 minutes.
3. Boil water in a saucepan.
4. Add the bayleaf, cinnamon stick and the drained gram.
5. Bring to a slow boil.
6. Remove the scum from the top of the pan and simmer until the gram is completely cooked.
7. Discard the bayleaf ad cinnamon stick.
8. Heat butter in a pan and saute the onions till they are soft and golden.
9. Add the garam masala, ginger garlic pastes and saute over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
10. Add the tomatoes, cooked gram and salt.
11. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
12. Garnish with green coriander.
13. Serve hot.
