Ingredients:
For Rajma:
Dried kidney beans – 200 gms
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Ajwain – 1/2 tbsp
Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Ginger – 2 tbsp, chopped
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Tomatoes – 2 tbsp, chopped
Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp, chopped
Water – 1 litre
Salt as per taste
For rice:
Basmati rice – 100 gms
Lemon juice – 5 ml
Water – 150 ml
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Soak the rajma in water for atleast eight hours. Then boil till they turn tender. Drain. Also, save the water for boiling.
2. Make a powder from the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and ajwain seeds.
3. In a pan, heat ghee and saute the ginger.
4. Next, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, tomatoes and ground powder and mix well.
5. Finally, add the rajma and the water that was used to boil it.
6. Add the salt and the garam masala.
7. Wash the rice and soak it in water.
8. In a cooking vessel, add the rice, salt and the lemon juice.
9. Once the rice is cooked, remove and drain.
