Ingredients:
Chicken – 500 gms, cut into bite-sized pieces
Onions – 1/2 cup, sliced
Tomatoes – 1/2 cup, chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 2 tblsp
Coconut – 1/2, small, grated
Green Chillies – 5, chopped
Khus Khus – 1/2 tsp
Chana Dal – 3/4 tsp
Aniseed – 1/2 tsp
Star Anise – 1, small
Cloves – 2, small
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch stick
Curry Leaves – 10
Method:
1. Heat 1/2 tsp oil in a pan over moderate flame.
2. Stir-fry the ginger garlic paste, grated coconut and green chillies for a minute.
3. Remove and keep aside.
4. In a different pan roast the khus khus, chana dal, aniseed and star anise.
5. Grind together the dal mixture and coconut mixture with a little water.
6. Heat the remaining oil in a separate pan.
7. Add the cloves, cinnamon stick, curry leaves and onions.
8. Cook till onions turn light golden brown.
9. Add the chicken pieces and ground paste.
10. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes
11. Add a little water and stir.
12. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
13. Serve hot with rice.
