Tomato Uttapam

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Parboiled Rice
  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • 4 Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 Onion medium, chopped (optional)
  • 3 to 4 Green Chillies minced
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida Powder
  • 2 Red Chillies broken
  • handful Curry Leaves chopped
  • handful Coriander Leaves chopped
  • for frying Oil
  • as per taste Salt

Instructions

  • Separately soak the dal and rice for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Grind the dal to a smooth batter and keep aside.
  • Grind the rice to a dosa batter consistency.
  • Add the dal batter and mix well.
  • Keep aside for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Add the tomatoes, onions, green chillies, red chillies, asafoetida powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Heat a nonstick tawa over medium flame.
  • Pour a ladleful of the batter and spread evenly.
  • Apply some oil around the edges and cook on both sides until golden brown.
  • Remove.
  • Serve hot with sambar and chutney of choice.
