Ingredients:
Fish – 1 cup
Small Onions – 1 cup
Tomato – 1 cup
Curry Leaves – few
Green Chillies – 4 to 5
Tamarind Extract – 1 cup
Red Chilli Powder – 3 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 2 tsp
Dhaniya Powder – 3 tsp
Salt as per taste
Gingelly Oil as required
Coriandere Leaves – 1/4 cup
Coconut – 1 small cup, ground
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Garlic – 2 to 3 flakes
Fenugreek Seeds – 1 tsp
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Add mustard seeds, fenugreek, curry leaves and onions.
3. Fry for 1 to 2 minutes.
4. Add chopped tomatoes and fry for another 2 minutes.
5. Add garlic and stir.
6. Mix tamarind extract, 1 tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder and dhaniya powder.
7. Add this to the pan and allow it to boil.
8. Add salt.
9. In an another bowl, add the fish pieces, 1 tsp turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
10. Add the ground coconut to the pan.
11. After 2 to 3 minutes, add the marinated fish pieces.
12. Let the gravy cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
13. Garnish with the coriander leaves.
14. Serve hot.
