Ingredients

  • 1 Chicken (cut into 10 to 12 pieces)
  • 1 1/4 litres Milk
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • 1 bunch Coriander Leaves (chopped)
  • 3 Green Chillies (sliced lengthwise)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 200 gms Butter
  • 500 gms Rice
  • 6 cups Water
  • Juice of 2 Limes

Coarsely Powdered Together:

  • 3 Cloves
  • 3 Cardamom
  • 1 inch Cinnamon

For Garnish:

  • 200 gms Green Peas (boiled)
  • 3 Eggs (hard-boiled, peeled, and cut into halves)

Instructions

  • Boil the chicken in milk with ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, green chillies, coarsely powdered cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and salt until the milk reduces to half and the chicken is almost cooked.
  • Melt the butter and add it to the chicken mixture.
  • Cook the rice separately in 6 cups of boiling water until 2/3 done, then drain the excess water.
  • Spread half of the partially cooked rice at the bottom of a heavy-based pan.
  • Add the chicken and milk mixture on top of the rice.
  • Spread the remaining rice over the chicken layer.
  • Pour the lime juice evenly over the top layer.
  • Cover with a lid and place in a preheated oven at 275°F (140°C) for 30 minutes or until fully cooked.
  • Garnish with boiled green peas and halved hard-boiled eggs.
