Ingredients:
Par Boiled Rice – 1/2 cup
Raw Rice – 1/2 cup
Soya Beans – 1/2 cup
Bengal Gram Dal – 1/2 cup
Urad Dal – 1/4 cup
Green Gram Dal – 1/4 cup
Tuvar Dal – 1/2 cup
Green Chillies – 6
Red Chillies – 6
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1 tsp
Fresh Coconut – 1/2 cup, grated
Salt as per taste
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Drumstick Leaves – 1 cup
Oil for frying
Method:
1. Wash and soak all the rice, dal and soya beans together in just enough water for 5 hours.
2. Crush cumin and pepper to a coarse powder.
3. Grind red chillies, salt, asafoetida, green chillies together and then add strained soaked dal varieties.
4. Grind everything together to a coarse rava consistency.
5. Add grated coconut, cumin, pepper powder at the end of the grinding and then take out.
6. Add washed drumstick leaves just before preparing adai.
7. Pour thick, small adai on a hot tawa with just enough oil around.
8. Fry on both sides properly.
9. Serve with chutney of choice.
