Palakkai Curry

Ingredients:
Raw Jack Fruit – 1/2 kg
Tuvar Dal – 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 cup
Coconut – 2 tblsp, grated
Sugar – a pinch
Salt to taste

For Seasoning:
Til Oil – 1 tblsp
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Chana Dal – 1 tsp
Red Chillies – 1 to 2
Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs

Method:
1. Remove the thick outer skin of the jack fruit with a sharp knife, cut into small pieces along with the seeds.
2. Add turmeric powder and enough water and cook.
3. When nearly done, add salt, cook till pieces are soft.
4. Boil dal with enough water to cook.
5. When done, dal should be soft and not mushy.
6. Heat oil, add seasonings.
7. When curry leaves are done, add cooked tuvar dal, stir fry and addd cooked jack fruit.
8. Fry 1 to 2 minutes longer.
9. Add grated coconut, sprinkle a pinch of sugar, mix and remove.
10. Serve with rice and rasam.
