Ingredients:
Urad Dal – 1 cup, washed, cleaned
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 3 to 4, halved
Ginger – 1/2 tblsp, finely chopped
Tomatoes – 1/4 cup, chopped
Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Lemon Juice – 2 tblsp
Butter – 1/2 tblsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
For tempering:
Butter – 1/3 cup
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Onions – 1/2 cup, chopped
Method:
1. Boil the dal with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.
2. Cook till tender and drain excess water. Keep aside.
3. Heat 1/2 tblsp butter in a pan.
4. Saute cumin seeds for a minute and add onions, green chillies and chopped ginger.
5. Fry till onions become brown.
6. Now add the dal and stir.
7. Add the garam masala powder, tomatoes and lemon juice.
8. Stir well and add the ginger garlic paste.
9. Mix well and add 1/4 cup of water.
10. Bring to a boil and add the 1/3 cup of butter.
11. Stir and mix well thoroughly.
12. Remove and serve hot.
