Ingredients for Jeera Rice
1cupBasmati / Fragrant Rice
2cupsWater
1tbspJeera
2tbspGhee
1/2cupSliced Onions
2Green Chilliesslit vertically
as per tasteSalt
How to make Jeera Rice
Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep aside.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker on a medium flame.
Add the Jeera, chillies and sliced onions and saute for 1-2 min.
Add the rice and mix well. Now add the 2 cups of water and salt as per taste.
Allow this to boil at high heat. Keep it covered, though not fully closed.
After you see the rice cooked to nearly 75%, close the lid with the whistle and reduce the flame to the lowest.
Allow it to cook this way for 9-10 minutes. Don't wait for a steam whistle.
Turn off the flame and let it rest till all the steam has reduced.
