Ingredients for Arisi Upma
2cupRaw Rice
1/2cupToor Dal
2tspBlack Peppercorns
2tspCumin Seeds
5Dry Red Chillies
1 1/2tspSalt
1/2cupCoconutgrated
2tspGhee
For tempering:

How to make Arisi Upma
Wash the rice and dal together.
Add peppercorns, cumin seeds and red chillies.
Add enough water and soak them for 3 to 4 hours.
Drain well and grind to a coarse rawa consistency, adding some more water.
Keep aside until required.
Heat 2 to 3 tblsp oil in a pan over medium flame.
Fry the tempering ingredients for 30 seconds.
Add the ground rice and dal to the pan.
Add salt and pour 3 cups of water.
Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for a 5 to 6 minutes or until tender.
