Try whole wheat bread for a healthier twist or a crusty baguette to add an interesting texture. The choice of bread can influence the overall taste and texture of the dish, so feel free to get creative and find the perfect bread for your palate.

Can I substitute frozen peas with fresh peas?

Absolutely! While the recipe often suggests using frozen peas for convenience, fresh peas can be a great alternative, especially when they are in season. Fresh peas add a vibrant and slightly sweeter flavour to the dish, enhancing its freshness. Blanch the fresh peas before adding them to the masala sauce. If you cannot find fresh peas, you can also use canned peas to drain and rinse them before incorporating them into the recipe.

Can I make Bread Peas Masala in advance?

  1. Cook the masala sauce and keep it refrigerated.
  2. Toast the bread cubes separately and store them in an airtight container.
  3. When ready to serve, reheat the masala sauce and mix it with the toasted bread cubes.

This will help maintain the desired texture of the bread. However, the bread may soften slightly over time, so serving it immediately after preparation is recommended for the best experience.

Absolutely! Bread Peas Masala is a versatile base, allowing you to customize it with different vegetables according to your taste. You can include diced bell peppers, carrots, or potatoes to add variety and nutrition. Sauté the vegetables and peas to the masala sauce while it simmers. This will create a delightful medley of flavours and textures, elevating the dish to a new level.
