Subz Gosht

Ingredients:
Lamb – 1 kg, boneless, cut into cubes
Turnips – 250 gms, cut into cubes
Spinach – 500 gms, roughly chopped
Mustard Oil – 1/4 cup
Onions – 1/2 cup, sliced
Garlic Paste – 3 tbsp
Ginger Paste – 3 tbsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Tomatoes – 250gm, chopped
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Cloves – 8
Cinnamon – 1 one inch stick
Green Cardamoms – 5
Mace – 5 blades

Method:
1. Heat the mustard oil in a kadai.
2. Add the onions and saute till light brown.
3. Add the lamb, turnips and spinach.
4. Saute for a while.
5. Add the garlic paste, ginger paste and turmeric powder, saute for 30 minutes and mix in the salt.
6. When the lamb is browned, add the tomatoes and red chilli powder.
7. Mix well.
8. Grind the cloves, cinnamon stick, green cardamoms and mace to a fine powder.
9. When the lamb is half cooked, add the ground spices.
10. Cook on low heat till the mixture is almost dry and the lamb is tender.
11. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti’s.
