Homemade Chinese Five-Spice Powder Recipe

A popular Chinese seasoning, the five-spice powder is used widely in Chinese Cuisine.
Homemade Chinese Five-Spice Powder

Cinnamon Sticks – 2 two inch sticks, broken
Star Anise – 2 tblsp, whole
Fennel Seeds – 3 tsp
Cloves – 1 1/2 tsp, whole
Szechuan Peppercorns – 1/2 tsp

1. Heat a nonstick pan over medium flame.
2. Dry roast all the ingredients for 2 minutes or until dark and fragrant.
3. Remove and cool.
4. Then grind them to a fine powder.
5. Store in an airtight container.
6. Use as required.

Tip: If you do not have Szechuan peppercorns, you may substitute it with 3/4 tsp black peppercorns.
