Pondicherry Fish Curry Recipe

Ingredients:
Small Onion – 1 cup
Cumin Seeds – 4 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 2 tsp
Garlic – 8
Pepper – 4 tsp
Jeera – 4 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds – 2 tsp
Coconut – 1/2 cup
Onion – 1 cup
Curry Leaves – 1/2 cup
Viral Meen (Butter Fish) – 1 cup
Coriander Powder – 5 tsp
Tamarind Extract – 1 cup
Tomato – 2 cup
Red Chilli Powder – 4 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 2 tsp
Green Chillies – 5
Gingelly Oil – 1 cup

Method:
1. Heat 8 tsp of oil in a pan over moderate heat.
2. Add garlic, pepper, jeera, fenugreek and small onions.
3. Fry for a minute.
4. Add curry leaves, coriander powder and coconut.
5. Fry for 60 seconds and grind all together.
6. In another pan, add tamarind extract and tomatoes.
7. Fry for 30 seconds.
8. Add the ground paste and mix well.
9. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
10. Let it boil for 10 to 15 minutes.
11. Add a little water if required.
12. Add the fish and continue to boil for another 10 minutes.
13. Meanwhile heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan.
14. Add mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves and fry for 15 seconds.
15. Add onion and garlic.
16. Fry for 30 seconds.
17. Add coriander leaves.
18. Add this to the gravy and boil for another 5 to 10 minutes.
19. Serve hot.
