Kashmiri Mutton Yakhni Recipe

Mutton Yakhni
Mutton – 500 gms, chopped
Curd – 400 gms
Cardamoms – 4
Cloves – 2
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch stick
Dry Ginger Powder – 1 tsp
Aniseed Powder – 1 to 2 tblsp
Mint Leaves – 2 tblsp
Salt as per taste

1. Pressure cook the mutton with 1 1/2 cups of water and a pinch fo salt for 20 to 30 minutes or until 3/4ths cooked.
2. Reserve the water and keep the mutton pieces aside.
3. Heat curd in a pan and stir continously to prevent it from splitting.
4. Add the cardamoms, cloves, cinnamons and stir for another 10 minutes
5. Add the ginger powder and stir a minute or two more.
6. Add the aniseed powder and add the mutton pieces with the water.
7. Gently mix well.
8. Add the mint leaves and reduce flame to low.
9. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring from time to time.
10. Cover and cook for 3 hours.
11. Serve hot with rice.
