A popular Goan Chicken dish often served as an accompaniment to the main dish or by itself with bread.
Chicken Cafreal
Chicken Drumsticks – 500 gms, skinned
Oil for deep frying
Rice Flour for dusting

For the marinade:

Yogurt – 1/4 cup + 1 tblsp
Coriander Leaves – 1/4 cup, chopped
Mint Leaves – 2 tblsp
Ginger – 2 1/2 tblsp, chopped
Garlic – 2 1/2 tblsp, chopped
Green Chillies – 4 to 5
Black Peppercorns – 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Lime Juice – 1 tblsp

1. Combine all the marinade ingredients and grind to a smooth paste.
2. Marinate the chicken drumsticks in this for 8 hours or overnight in the fridge.
3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
4. Remove the chicken from the fridge and keep aside for 5 to 10 minutes.
5. Then roll them in the rice flour ligthly.
6. Dust off any excess flour and deep-fry in hot oil until cooked or evenly browned.
7. Remove and drain excess oil.
8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
9. Serve hot with rice or roti.
