Varagu Puliyodharai (Kodo Millet Tamarind Rice)

Ingredients:
Varagu (Kodo Millet) – 1 cup, soaked for 30 minutes
Tamarind Extract – 1 cup, thick
Coriander Seeds – 1 tblsp
Fenugreeek Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal – 1/2 tsp
Bengal Gram Dal – 1/2 tsp
Dry Red Chillies – 6
Asafoetida Powder – little
Turmeric Powder – a pinch
Curry Leaves – few
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. Pressure cook the kodo millet with turmeric powder.
2. Grind together the coriander seeds and red chillies.
3. Heat oil in a pan.
4. Fry the dals, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds for 45 to 60 seconds.
5. Pour the tamarind extract.
6. Add salt, coriander-chilli powder, asafoetida powder, curry leaves and bring to a boil.
7. Add the cooked millet and stir well to mix.
8. Serve.
