Erachi Ulathiatu

Ingredients:
Mutton – 500 gms, boneless and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
Coconut Oil – 100 ml
Coconut – 1/2, cut into pieces
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Small Sambar Onions – 12, sliced
Ginger – 1 half inch piece, sliced
Curry Leaves – 15
Salt to taste

Roast and Powder:
Coriander Seeds – 2 tblsp
Whole Red Chillies – 10
Cinnamon Sticks – 3
Cloves – 6
Black Peppercorns – 8

Method:
1. Heat 2 tblsp of coconut oil in a kadai.
2. Add the pieces of coconut and turmeric powder.
3. Saute for a while and keep aside.
4. Mix the mutton with the powdered spices, small sambar onions, ginger, curry leaves and salt in a kadai.
5. Add enough water to cook the mutton dry.
6. Bring the mutton mixture to a boil.
7. Cover and simmer till the mutton is tender and dry.
8. Heat the remaining coconut oil.
9. Add the cooked mutton and fry well.
10. Garnish with fried pieces of coconut.
11. Serve hot with steamed rice.
