Capsicum Pachadi

A delicious side dish for roti, idly, dosa, pulao or biryani.

Ingredients:
Capsicum – 1, finely chopped
Toor Dal – 1/4 cup, cooked
Sambar Onions – 5 to 6, finely chopped
Tomato – 1, finely chopped
Green Chilli – 1, chopped
Sambar Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – a small pinch
Coriander Leaves – few
Salt as per taste
Oil – 3 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida Powder – little
Curry Leaves – few

Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
2. Fry the mustard seeds, asafoetida powder, cumin seeds and curry leaves for 30 seconds.
3. Add the tomatoes, onion and green chilli.
4. Saute for 2 minutes and add the capsicum.
5. Add sambar powder, turmeric powder, salt and 1/4 cup of water.
6. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes or until the capsicum is cooked.
7. Add the toor dal and bring to a boil.
8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
9. Remove and serve hot.
