A mouthwatering hot and spicy dish, popular in Tamil Nadu.
Ingredients:
Mutton – 500 gms, chopped into bite sized pieces
Onions – 150 gms, big, finely chopped
Tomatoes – 50 gms, finely chopped
Ginger – 50 gms
Garlic – 25 gms
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tblsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 50 ml
Ghee – 1 1/2 tlsp
Cloves – 1 or 2
Cardamom – 1
Cinnamon – 1 or 2
Method:
1. Heat ghee and oil in a heavy-bottomed pan.
2. Add cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and fry for 30 to 60 seconds.
3. Add onions and saute until golden.
4. Grind the ginger and garlic to a fine paste and add to the pan.
5. Add tomatoes and cook for a minute.
6. Now add the mutton pieces and stir well.
7. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
8. Mix until well combined.
9. Pour enough water and cover the pan with a lid.
10. Simmer for a few minutes or until the mutton pieces are cooked and ghee/oil floats to the top.
11. Remove the lid and cook for a minute more.
12. Transfer to a serving dish.
13. Serve.
