Also known as Kumbakonam Kadappa, this is generally served as a side dish to Idli, Dosa or Poori.

Ingredients:
Moong Dal – 1 cup
Onion – 1, chopped
Tomato – 1, chopped
Cardamom – 1
Cinnamon – 1
Clove – 1
Potatoes – 2
Green Chillies – 4, chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Saunf – 1 tsp
Roasted Gram – 3 tsp
Coconut – 4 tsp, grated
Salt as per taste
Oil as required

Method:
1. Cook the moong dal till mushy.
2. Boil the potatoes, peel the skin and mash well.
3. Grind together the roasted gram, coconut, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, saunf and green chillies to a fine paste.
4. Heat little oil in a pan over medium flame.
5. Add the ginger garlic paste, onions, tomatoes and saute well.
6. Add the ground paste, mashed potatoes and cooked dal.
7. Add salt and mix well.
8. Cook for 2 minutes.
9. Remove and transfer to serving bowl.
10. Serve as a side dish to idli or dosa.
