Pudalangai Kootu

Ingredients:
Moong Dal – 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder – 3/4 tsp
Onions – 1/4 cup, finely chopped
Green Chillies – 2, finely chopped
Snake Gourd – 3 cups, sliced
Salt – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Fresh Coconut – 1 tblsp, grated

For Tempering:
Oil – 2 tblsp
Curry Leaves – 3
Dried Red Chilli – 1
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp

Method:
1. Wash the moong dal and drain.
2. Cook the dal with 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and 3 cups of water till creamy. Set aside.
3. Put the oil in a pan over medium heat.
4. When the oil is hot add the curry leaves, dried red chilli, cumin seeds and urad dal.
5. Add the onions, green chillies and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder to the pan.
6. Stir for a few seconds.
7. Add the snake gourd and mix well.
8. Blend in the cooked dal and about 1 cup of water.
9. Mix well and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
10. Stir in salt, cumin powder and coconut.
11. Stir-fry till the snake gourd is tender.
12. Remove from heat
13. Serve warm.

a good simple recipe.grated coconut also can be mixed with the
pudalangai kootu.it will be more tasty.
