Crab Masala Recipe

Ingredients:
Crabs - 8, medium
Oil - 4 tblsp
Dried Red Chillies - 8
Garlic - 8 cloves
Cloves - 10
Cinnamon - 2 one inch sticks
Black Peppercorns - 10
Coriander Seeds - 1 tblsp
Coconut - 1 1/2 cups, grated
Onions - 2, large and finely chopped
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Tamarind Pulp - 2 tblsp
Coconut Milk - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Method:
1. Clean the crabs.
2. Cut each into 2 pieces and separate the claws.
3. Heat 2 tblsp of oil in a pan and stir-fry the red chillies, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns, coriander seeds and grated coconut till fragrant.
4. Grind all the fried spices and coconut together with one cup of water to a fine paste.
5. Heat the remaining oil in a pan and saute the onions till they change colour.
6. Add the crabs, turmeric powder and 1 cup of water and cook till the crabs are tender.
7. Add the ground paste, tamarind pulp and salt.
8. Bring to a boil.
9. Add the coconut milk and cook over low heat for 2 minutes.
10. Serve hot.
