Milagu Vadai

Urad Dal – 1 cup
Black Peppercorns – 2 tblsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Butter – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 150 ml
Asafoetida Powder – 1/4 tsp
Rice Flour – 1 tsp
Water as required

1. Grind the dal and peppercorns to a fine rava consistency and remove.
2. Add asafoetida powder, salt and butter.
3. Mix well.
4. Gradually add water and mix well.
5. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
6. Add a little water and mix again.
7. Make small balls of the mixture and flatten them on a greased banana leaf or plastic cover.
8. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
9. Fry the vadais till golden brown.
10. Remove and drain excess oil.
11. Serve.
