Clams with Coconut Recipe

Clams – 200
Oil  – 6 tblsp
Onions – 5, medium and finely chopped
Green Chillies – 10, slit
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1/2 tsp
Coconut – 1 cup, grated
Sugar – 1/4 tsp
Lime Juice – 1 tblsp
Coriander Leaves – 2 tblsp, chopped
Salt to taste

1. Wash the clams, slit them open, leaving the meat on one half of the shell.
2. Discard the other empty half.
3. Heat the oil in a pan.
4. Saute the onions and green chillies till the onions change colour.
5. Add the clams, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste and salt.
6. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7. Add 1/2 cup of water, cover the pan and cook for another 15 minutes till the water evaporates and the clams are tender.
8. Stir in the grated coconut, sugar and lime juice.
9. Cook for another 2 minutes.
10. Remove from heat.
11. Garnish with coriander leaves.
12. Serve hot.
