Black-Eyed Pea Curry
Black-Eyed Pea (Lobia) – 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida pOwder – 1/8 tsp
Ghee – 1/4 cup
Onions – 1/4 cup
Garlic – 1 tsp, chopped
Ginger – 1 tsp, chopped
Dry Red Chillies – 2
Tomatoes – 1/2 cup, chopped
Coriander Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste

1. Pressure cook the lobia with turmeric powder, asafoetida, 1 1/2 cups of water and salt for 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Heat ghee in a pan.
3. Saute onions, garlic, ginger and red chillies till onions turn light brown.
4. Add the tomatoes, coriander seeds, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
5. Cook till tomatoes turn soft.
6. Add the black-eyed peas along with the cooking water and mix well.
7. Serve hot.
