Ingredients:
Tamarind Extract – 1 cup
Channa Dal – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Red Chilli – 4
Coconut – 4, grated
Coriander Seeds – 2 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Pepper – 1 tsp
Oil – 1 tblsp
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves – 1 tsp, chopped
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. Fry the channa dal, urad dal, red chilli, coriander, cumin and pepper in oil until they brown.
2. Powder them smoothly.
3. Keep a pan over moderate heat and add the tamarind extract to it.
4. Add salt and turmeric powder.
5. Sprout mustard seeds and curry leaves in a tsp of oil. Add it to the tamarind extract.
6. Add the masala powder.
7. Allow it to boil till it becomes thick.
8. Add asafoetida.
9. Garnish with coriander leaves, if required.
10. Serve hot with rice.
