The calculator uses the target yield divided by the original yield as its scale factor. Ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, butter and chocolate generally start with that direct ratio. When an egg result is inconvenient, such as 2.5 eggs, beat the eggs together and measure the required portion by weight for better consistency.
Leaveners, yeast and seasonings deserve more attention when the change is large. A bread dough made at four times the original size may ferment differently because of dough temperature and mixing. A cake baked in a deeper pan can need a different baking time even when the ingredient quantities are correct. The calculator therefore gives you a useful starting formula without pretending the whole baking process scales perfectly.
