Prawn Rasam Recipe

Fresh Prawns – 250 gms
Tomatoes – 1/2 cup, coarsely chopped
Tomato Puree – 1/4 cup
Black Pepper Powder – 1/8 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1/8 tsp
Rasam Powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Spring Onions – 3 tblsp, chopped
Fresh Ginger – 1/2 tsp, minced
Garlic Clove – 1, crushed
Fresh Coriander Leaves – 3 tblsp, chopped

1. Peel and devein the prawns.
2. Wash and set aside.
3. Boil 4 cups of water in a pan over medium heat.
4. Add the tomatoes and cook uncovered till tender.
5. Stir in the tomato puree, black pepper powder, cumin powder, rasam powder and salt.
6. Stir well and simmer over medium heat.
7. Add the spring onions, ginger and garlic.
8. Continue simmering over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
9. When the rasam comes to a boil add the prawns.
10. Cook over medium heat, till prawns turn pink, for 2 to 3 minutes.
11. Stir in the coriander leaves.
12. Serve warm.
