How to use the converter

  1. Choose Volume, Weight, Temperature or Ingredient.

Weight-to-weight and volume-to-volume conversions use fixed mathematics. Ingredient conversions are different. One cup of flour does not weigh the same as one cup of honey, ghee, rice, cocoa or nuts. The ingredient mode therefore uses a separate density estimate for each supported ingredient.

The ingredient list now covers common pantry items including maida, atta, besan, rice flour, almond flour, sooji, cornstarch, oats, rice, poha, several sugars and syrups, butter, ghee, oils, milk, cream, curd, condensed milk, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salts, breadcrumbs, coconut, nuts, seeds and common dals.

These ingredient results are still estimates. Packing, grind size, moisture, brand and measuring technique can change the true weight of a cup or spoon. When precision matters in baking, weighing the ingredient directly remains the better option.

Are cup-to-gram results exact?

No. They are practical density-based estimates. Ingredient packing, moisture, grind and brand can change the real weight.

What is the difference between a metric cup and a US cup?

The metric setting uses a 250 ml cup. The US customary setting uses a cup of about 236.6 ml, so several cups can produce a noticeable difference.

Does the tool convert Gas Mark?

Yes. It converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and common Gas Mark equivalents and returns the nearest supported Gas Mark where needed.
