Drumstick Channa Dal Kurma

Murungakkai Kadala Paruppu Kurma
Ingredients:
Drumsticks – 2, chopped
Channa Dal (Kadalai Paruppu) – 1/2 cup, soaked for 20 to 25 minutes, drained
Sambar Onions – 250 gms, chopped
Tomatoes – 250 gms, chopped
Coconut – 1/2, grated
Gasa Gasa – 4 tsp
Cashewnuts – 4
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Sambar Powder – 2 tsp
Green Chillies – 2, slit
Oil – 1/2 tblsp
Saunf – 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves – handful, chopped
Curry Leaves – handful, chopped
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Saute the saunf for 30 seconds.
3. Add onions and stir-fry for a minute.
4. Add tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and mix well.
5. After 2 minutes, add the green chillies and channa dal.
6. Mix well and cook for a minute or two.
7. Add the drumsticks and saute for another minute.
8. Add enough water and simmer.
9. Grind together the coconut, gasa gasa and cashewnuts.
10. Add to the kurma along with salt.
11. Bring to a boil.
12. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
13. Remove and serve hot with rice.

    My mother used to make this and i used to just eat this with rice.
