Ellu (White Sesame Seeds) Chutney

Ellu / White Sesame Seeds
White Sesame Seeds (Ellu) – 1/4 cup
Coconut – 2 tblsp, grated
Garlic – 1 clove
Tamarind – little
Dry Red Chillies – 6
Curry Leaves – few
Mustard Seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Salt as per taste

1. Dry roast the sesame seeds and keep aside.
2. Heat a little oil in a pan.
3. Fry the coconut, garlic, tamarind, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
4. Remove and cool.
5. Add the sesame seeds, salt and little water.
6. Grind to a smooth paste.
7. Heat the remaining oil in the pan.
8. Fry the mustard seeds and urad dal for 30 seconds.
9. Add to the chutney.
10. Serve with rice or roti.
