Payatham Paruppu Vazhai Thandu Kootu Recipe

Vazhai Thandu
Ingredients:
Vazhai Thandu (Plantain Stem) – 1, chopped
Payatham Paruppu (Moong Dal) – 1 cup, pressure cooked
Salt as per taste
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp

Fry in 1 tsp oil and Grind:
Urad Dal – 2 tsp
Dry Red Chillies – 6
Oil – 2 tsp

For Tempering:
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Bengal Gram Dal – 1 tsp

Method:
1. In a large pan cook the vazhai thandu with salt and turmeric powder.
2. Add the cooked dal and bring to a boil.
3. Add the ground ingredients and stir well.
4. Heat oil in a small frying pan and fry the tempering ingredients.
5. Pour into the kootu and remove.
6. Serve hot with rice.

    You can use standard Britannia cheese that you get in the super market.
