Samba Rava Kesari Recipe

Samba Rava (Wheat Rava) – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 1/2 cups
Water – 2 cups
Milk – 1/2 cup, boiled
Kesari Powder – 1/2 tsp
Edible Camphor (Pachai Karpooram) – a pinch
Cashewnuts – 1/2 cup, fried
Raisins – 1/2 cup, fried
Ghee – 1/2 cup

1. Dry roast the samba rava over medium flame.
2. Add 1 tsp ghee and mix well.
3. Pour 2 cups of water and bring to a boil over low flame, approximately 15 minutes.
4. Add sugar, kesari powder and mix.
5. Now add milk and simmer over low flame.
6. Add the cashewnuts and raisins.
7. Add the remaining ghee and camphor.
8. Mix well and cook till it has a kesari like consistency.
9. Transfer to a serving bowl.
10. Serve hot.

    Yes, you can def make your own ghee from butter.

    As as substitute for Jaggery, you can use Dark Brown Sugar or Muscovado Sugar or Mexican Piloncillo.

    I live in Mexico is piloncillo or mascabado sugar a good substitute for jaggery? Can I make my own ghee from butter? Thanks
