Manathakkali Keerai
Ingredients:
Manathakkali Keerai – 1 cup, chopped
Moong Dal – 1 tblsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Black Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Ghee – 1/2 tsp
Coconut – 1 tsp, grated
Salt as per taste

Method:
1. Wash the keerai and pressure cook with the moong dal till 1 or 2 whistles.
2. Ensure it does not become mushy.
3. Dry roast 1/2 tsp urad dal, pepper, cumin and asafoetida till golden brown.
4. Add grated coconut and grind to a fine powder.
5. Transfer the cooked keerai and dal mixture to a pan.
6. Add the ground powder and salt.
7. Simmer for a few minutes.
8. Fry the mustard seeds and 1/2 tsp urad dal in ghee.
9. Add to the kootu and remove.
10. Serve hot with rice.
