Sambar (Small) Onions – 20, peeled
Dry Red Chillies – 4
Urad Dal – 4 tsp
Tamarind – a small lemon sized ball
Oil – 4 tsp
Salt as per taste
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Saute the onions for a minute or two.
3. Dry roast the red chillies and urad dal separately.
4. Combine all the ingredients and grind to a coarse/smooth paste.
5. Serve with rice, idli or dosa.
