Avarakkai / Broad Beans
Avarakkai – 200 gms
Moong Dal – 100 gms
Coconut – 1 cup, grated
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chillies – 1, broken
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Salt as per taste

1. Dry roast the moong dal till golden.
2. Boil the avarakkai with salt till tender.
3. Combine cumin seeds, coconut, dry red chillies in a mixer jar.
4. Grind to a smooth paste using little water.
5. In a medium pan, combine the moong dal and avarakkai.
6. Add the ground paste and cook over medium flame till done.
7. Fry the mustard seeds and urad dal in a tablespoon and pour over the kootu.
8. Remove and serve hot with rice.
