Badam Burfi is one of the most popular Indian sweet made during festivals and celebrations.

Badam Burfi is a traditional Indian sweet made from almonds and sugar. This easy to make sweet can be made at home with just a few ingredients – almonds, sugar syrup and saffron.

The dessert is typically served during the winter season in North India.

This is one of the many desserts that draws its origins from the royal Mughal kitchens of India. This almond-based fudge is often served during Diwali, but it can be easily made at home using only three ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Badam / Almond
  • 400 g Sugar
  • 3 to 4 tbsp Ghee

Instructions

  • Soak the badam for 5 to 8 hours.
  • Drain and peel the skin.
  • Spread them out to dry completely and grind to a fine powder.
  • Heat a pan of water over medium flame.
  • Add sugar and stir well until fully dissolved.
  • When it reaches an one string consistency and is sticky, gradually add the badam powder.
  • Keep stirring until it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  • Grease a plate with ghee and pour the badam mixture.
  • Spread evenly and allow it to cool.
  • Just before it is set completely, cut into desired shapes.
  • Store in an airtight container.
  • If desired, garnish with some sliced almonds.
