This cocktail came about by sheer chance during the 1930s. An American bar owner had overstocked on ginger beer, and a representative of the soft drinks company invented the Moscow Mule to help him out.

INGREDIENT:

2 measure vodka

1 measure lime juice

4-6 cracked ice cubes

Ginger beer, to top up

Slice of lime, to decorate.

METHOD:

1. Shake the vodka and lime juice vigorously over ice until well frosted.

2. Half fill a chilled highball glass with cracked ice cubes and strain the cocktail over them.

3. Top up with ginger beer. Dress with a slice of lime.
