Prawns in Coconut Gravy


Prawns – 1 kg, medium, cleaned, shelled and deveined
Mustard Oil – 2 tblsp
Onions – 1 to 1 1/2, finely sliced
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder – 3/4 tsp
Cumin Powder – 3/4 tsp
Chilli Powder – 3/4 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Coconut Milk – 3/4 cup
Salt as per taste

1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
2. When the oil is hot, deep fry the onion strips and keep aside.
3. Add the prawns and fry for a minute.
4. Add the turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli powders.
5. Add sugar and stir well for a minute.
6. Add coconut milk and cover.
7. Cook for 10 minutes.
8. Garnish with fried onions.
9. Serve hot with plain rice.
