Plain Pulao Recipe

Basmati Rice – 1 cup
Oil – 3 tblsp
Cinnamon – 1 inch piece
Black Cardamom – 2
Cloves – 2
Bayleaf – 1
Salt – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Water – 2 cups

1. Wash rice and soak in water for 20 minutes.
2. Drain and keep aside.
3. Heat oil in a non stick pan.
4. Fry the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bayleaf.
5. Reduce heat and add rice, turmeric powder and salt.
6. Fry for 8 to 10 minutes.
7. Transfer rice into a deep pan.
8. Add 2 cups of water, cover pan and simmer on low heat till rice is tender and dry.
9. Discard the whole spices and bayleaf before serving.

Note: Instead of water you can also use chicken stock.
