Corn, Barley and Aval Pongal


Barley – 100 gms
Aval – 250 gms
Corn – 1 cup
Jeera – 3 tsp
Pepper Powder – 3 tsp
Cashew – 10 pieces
Ghee – 150 gms
Ginger – 2 tsp, finely chopped
Salt as per taste
Curry Leaves – few

1. Soak barley, aval and corn separately in water for 20 minutes.
2. Mix all together and add water. For one cup of mixed grains, add 3 cups of water.
3. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
4. Heat ghee in a pan.
5. Add ginger, jeera, pepper and curry leaves.
6. Add the cooked barley, aval and corn.
7. Mix well and Serve hot.

This dish is also known as Diabetic Pongal as it is best suited for those suffering from Diabetes.
